The Ultimate Environmentally Friendly Kitchen Design!

“What’s old is new again,” was the theme of this one of a kind kitchen where reclaiming and recycling were key objectives. The distinctive character of this room whispers country chic with unique eclectic touches.

The warm brick counter to ceiling backsplash used to warm the living room as a fireplace hearth before it was repurposed into the backdrop of this new kitchen. The floor joist and ceiling rafters of the old house were repurposed into the now trendy open shelving units. And the useful and whimsical pot and pan hanger used to hold together an old wood barrel.

Other salvaged materials include the base of the island which was an old office desk, and the cabinets which were pulled out of the old home, refinished and painted for a new / old shaker look.

The continuity of the design was carried through with the installation of new but old looking distressed wood flooring and the sourcing and installation of an old farmhouse sink.

The gleaming custom island countertop is a focal point and was given a thick clear protective coating to bring out the character and add to the charm of this warm country style kitchen. Finish it off with some eclectic lighting fixtures and you have a winner!

Kitchen Design with Perfect Symmetry

The modern minimalist design with sleek lines and clean finishes is balanced and warmed by the caramel of the cabinetry. The pallet is given more depth with the high contrast bright white waterfall countertop on the island and parallel cabinets. This dimension is enhanced with the addition of two crisp white matching cabinet fronts. The symmetry of the design is enriched with touch latch technology and upper and lower built in cabinet lighting.

The client wanted to open up the space but maintain an area for the kitchen proper. To accomplish this all of the dividing walls were removed and a new ridge beam was installed. A floating wall with built in cabinetry and three way fireplace is the new focal point of the home and provides separation in space while maintaining the openness the client wanted.

Add a built in cappuccino machine, all new appliances and a custom multi directional light fixture clad to match the cabinetry and its Mission Accomplished for this transformed gathering place.

Delightful Cozy Kitchen Design

This Cozy Kitchen posed a dilemma for the clients who weren’t sure how to make the most of the small square footage they had. But the designers at Harwood undertook the challenge and created a space even the most season chef would be proud to work in.

The stunning dark cabinetry sets the tone for this kitchen, which immediately makes you feel comfortable and relaxed. The dark tones are offset with light caramel laminate flooring and light stone backsplash. Features include a built in wine rack granite counter tops and bar seating at the counter.

A flood of natural lighting enters the kitchen above the sink as well as through the convenient pass through which opens the space up to the rest of the house. Additional in-cabinet and under cabinet lighting enhances the dark cabinetry as does new strategically placed pot lights.
